Microsoft Hints That Windows 8 May Launch In October 2012

9

At various points in the past, we had hints about Windows 8 availability in late 2012. Now according to Microsoft’s Janelle Poole, director of public relations of the Windows Business Group, Windows 8 may come in October 2012 timeframe. Discussing with Pocket-lint about Windows 8,

He said,

“One of the things that I think is a good guideline though is we’ve always said that Windows releases come round about every three years and this year will be three years in October since we launched Windows 7. So I think that’s a good guideline to consider.”

This may become true since various Microsoft partners like Acer hinted about Windows 8 launch later this year at CES this week.

Thats too long. Another disaster in the making. iPads will take over the world by then and yet another struggle will start from Microsoft to gain back mind share and market share. Windows 8 better be packed with priceless exclusives and amazing business value vs. iPad 3 or 4 by then.

Um, people still use laptops and desktops.  Tablets are not taking over the world.

Don’t know man. I deal with business and industry people everyday and every other company is jumping in with iPads left and right. In fact there was an article today about Apple eating Microsoft’s corporate sales. Further Windows 8 is more than anything, anticipated for its capabilities for the tablet/ultrabook form factor. I would hate Windows 8 to be in the same situation as Windows Phone has had to be in… (difficult to win mindshare and marketshare from fruit devices)

Its Windows, the business value is there, and 7 months will not change the fact that Windows is more business capable than the iPad.

That is a bit to long I cant hold off using the beta forever I need to convince my company that Windows is our best option but yet again this is a rumor and from what Steve Ballmer said its February than off to the races I think its going to arrive sooner than later

I’d rather have it completed and done right the first time, than rushed.  That timeframe aligns with Apollo.
