Microsoft: More Than 2 Million Xbox One Consoles Sold Worldwide

Microsoft today announced that more than 2 million consoles sold through to consumers worldwide, averaging over 111,111 units sold per day at a record-setting pace for Xbox. Xbox One was launched 18 days ago and it is sold out at most of the retailers around the world. Microsoft also revealed that Xbox One customers spent over 83 million hours in games, TV, and apps on Xbox One since the system launched on Nov. 22.

“We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world. Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers.  We’re also particularly excited to see consumers engaging in a wide range of games and entertainment experiences on the platform, with more than 1 million paid transactions* on Xbox Live to date,” said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of strategy and marketing, Xbox.

Xbox One is also proving to be the most popular online multiplayer community for gamers with over 39 million Xbox One achievements unlocked and 595 million total Gamerscore achieved.

    Is…that it?

    That’s pretty…low

    • Duk3togo

      So is your comment…

    • CanGueler

You Mr have obviously no knwoledge on this topic.
Those are more than phenomenal sales for a 500$ mashine.
To put it in perspective the 360 reached this goal after 3 Months ;)

        actually no, they’re not
compared to sony ps4 that launched in fewer countries…2 million is actually quite bad when Sony hit one million in one country in 24 hours. Now granted everything has cooled off since the launches of the two machines, but for a 14 country launch ostensibly and only garnering two million units for the “top” gaming platform’s sequel, that’s very disappointing.

I wonder what can be done to give wider adoption here…

        • Rob

PS4 is available in 30 countries… So the number is actually pretty high.

        • Bob

Xbox One hit 1 million in 24 hours.
PS4 also just announced 2m for same period.

I think you’re mistaken. PS4 announced 2.1 million sales overall in all countries.

            That is impressive!

        • CanGueler

The PS4 has also very impressive numbers. This doesnt make the One´s sales less impressive. As a gamer you should be happy that the console-market is in a healthy state as it is. But it seems that you are not able to do that

        • NGM123

You sir are a moron. It doesn’t matter how many countries anything was launched in, total supply is similar for both consoles, so a lot in one country, or less spread over more countries, the totals are similar so just stop with the immature rants, it’s embarrassing to read.
A marathon isn’t completed at the first turn, they’ve only run 385 yards, there’s still 26 miles to go, fool.

    • eharris560

      It’s the same for PS4

  • robertwade

They’d sell a lot more of them IF THEY WERE FLIPPIN’ AVAILABLE! Everywhere I’ve looked, all I see is “out of stock”….unless, of course, you’re willing to pay a scalped price for one. But try to find the standard $499 unit…nada.

    • Bugbog

Its availability is still better than that of the PS4! :)

I have same issue here. Can’t find one.

I suspect everyone was cautious about building up too much inventory ahead of demand. Also, with new consoles there’s always a concern about not wanting to recall millions of a devices if a problem emerges. A slow rollout limits the exposure.

I walked into Walmart on the evening of Black Friday just to watch the madness for fun. I offhandedly asked a manager-looking staff member, “I am sure you are already sold out, but do you know when the next shipment happens?” He softly answered, “Check over in Automotive.” Bam! 12 Xbox Ones (and 10 PS4’s). An Xbox One became mine. OK, I was lucky.

I’m actually veeery much waiting to read comments on anti-MS sites.
*Getting popcorn and going to find the news from TheVerge, FudZilla, Guru3D, gaming sites, …* :D

  • Eli_Vance

All the crap spread by Sony, Nintendo and PC gaming fanboys couldn’t slow down the sales.

This is good news, it should make it easier to sell off the division after the new CEO takes over. Even though we are lossing $50-100 on each unit MSFT should still be able to find someone who will buy the division so we can focus on the things that makes us cash

    • Guest

Being sold at a $50-100 loss for each unit, I hope they don’t sell any more. I kind of hope MSFT would make money on the stuff they sold :(

  • Liberal Republic

This is great news for Microsoft. All they have to do is ignore the media and focus on what they planned to deliver in the first place. They should give us the sharing feature they originally planned before the dodos on the faux tech media killed it. I have put my thoughts here
