Making Friend and Location Recommendations Based on Location Similarities

Method for making a recommendation to a first user in a computing network, including calculating one or more similarity scores between the first user and one or more remaining users in the network, identifying a portion of the remaining users having a highest similarity scores, identifying one or more locations visited by the portion of the remaining users but not by the first user, determining an interest level of the first user in each location, ranking the locations based on the interest levels, and displaying the locations based on the ranking as a first recommendation.

WIND-POWERED DATA CENTER

This document describes various techniques for powering a computer data center using a wind-powered generator. The computer data center may include network connected servers that are electrically connected to, and powered by, the wind-powered generator.

SENSOR-BASED AUTHENTICATION TO A COMPUTER NETWORK-BASED SERVICE

Sensor-based authentication technique embodiments are presented which generally employ sensor readings captured by a user’s computing device (such as a mobile computing device like a cell phone, smart phone, PDA, and so on) to authenticate the user’s access to a computer network-based service (such as a web-service) that is secured with traditional textual passwords. These traditional passwords are saved in an off-device password repository service. The aforementioned sensor readings are not cached on the user’s computing device and are immediately streamed to the password repository service, where they are validated against a pre-arranged, known sensor-based password. If the validation succeeds, access to the password protected service is brokered by the password repository service on behalf of the user using the appropriate traditional password, and the user’s computing device is granted access.

APPLICATION GADGETS AND REMOTE CONTROL DEVICES

Application gadget techniques are described. In an implementation, a remote control device includes a display device and one or more modules. The one or more modules are configured to initiate one or more control functions related to control of a display of content by a client. The one or more modules also provide an environment to execute one or more application gadgets such that an output of the one or more application gadgets is displayable on the display device.

DEVICE THEME MATCHING

Various embodiments enable device theme matching. In at least some embodiments, a request for resources from a client device can be configured to include data to identify a theme that is active for the client device and/or selected programs or interfaces of the device. A web provider that receives the resource request can parse the request and make use of identifying data to ascertain a theme that is active for or associated with the client device. Based on the identifying data, the web provider can retrieve, generate, create, or otherwise obtain webpages that are configured to match or otherwise be consistent with the ascertained theme. The web provider can then communicate the configured webpages to the client device in response to the resource request.

 ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR MONITORING ANALYSIS AND INFLUENCE (via Geekwire)

Approaches are provided for monitoring, analyzing, and influencing organizational behaviors through multi-modal communication systems. Desired and undesired behaviors and applicable organizational contexts are defined and action plans developed. The behaviors are then monitored through communication sessions between members and analyzed for comparison to the action plans such that feedback may be provided at individual and/or organizational levels to influence the behaviors.
