The general manager of Microsoft Turkey, Tamer Özmen said Microsoft is planning to build a tablet research and development laboratory in Turkey to facilitate “Fatih”, the Turkish government’s tablet education project. “We are very keen to be involved in the project and we’re working on establishing the first research and development laboratory in Turkey”, he added. The move came as the Turkish government planned to replace the traditional blackboards and text books with electronic boards and tablet PCs as part of the Fatih education project.
Microsoft did not reveal further details about the facility. But, as per the government requirement, it seems that nearly 15 million tablets will be purchased for the project.
