Microsoft Kinect Display

During yearly TechForum event in Seattle, Microsoft Research unveiled number of interesting projects that they were working on. Some of the projects were SketchInsight, Viral Search, etc,. The Verge reports that Microsoft also revealed displays with Kinect sensor built-in. Microsoft is working to bring Kinect sensor integrated into displays. There are no.of challenges in making that happen, for example infra-red cameras in Kinect will not work in bright sunlight.

Speaking on this, Craig Mundie said the following,

“You want to be as cheap as possible and physically as small as possible,” , “My dream is to get a Kinect into the bezel of something like this [Surface tablet].”

“It’s not gonna happen tomorrow, but we can see a path towards that sort of thing.”

i am pretty sure google glasses / ios watch will be a hit

There will be multiple issues associated with the Google Glasses device, not least of which would be Cost, Privacy, et.c

However, an Apple Watch has great potential to be a mass market hit, especially if executed well!

Isn’t the reason why 3D TV haven’t took off, is because most of us don’t want to wear the damn glasses.

      • Parky

there’s stereoscopic 3d that doesn’t require glasses its due mainly to the lack of content and expensive products and the lack of need!

Microsoft should have had Kinect support in Windows 8… especially Kinect voice support. MS is moving too slowly on this.
