Upgrade and full? Because when I contacted Microsoft they told me I required 7, Vista or XP.

to upgrade to win8 you will need XP, Vista or Win7 running on your machine.

No, old Windows doesn’t have to be in use on the computer you plan to upgrade. The computer only has to legally associate to the license of one of those old Windows. You can use Windows 8’s upgrade disc to upgrade your computer with a completely wiped-out hard drive as long as you can legally run Windows XP, Vista, or 7 on it.
The discs from upgrade and full versions of Windows 8 are physically the same. The only difference is legality. They don’t really check the existence of older Windows in your hard drive.

I am a die hard Windows 7 fan and I think it is one of the best OS that ever exist. I also love Metro (Modern) Style UI on my Windows Phone and Windows 8.

Missing Start button was something I was not happy with it at all and I really like Aero theme on Windows 7 and seeing that gone was also was disappointment to me.

But still got Windows 8 Pro and installed it to use both and switch between Windows 7 and 8.

First few months (Having Windows 8 Pro since preview version) I keep using Windows 7 and not switching to windows 8 much. Then I decided to give it more chance after Installing final version of 8.

I have to say there were no better OS exist in human history than Windows 7 till Windows 8 came out. It is faster, smoother and just work better than Windows 7.

And now I have to say I use Windows 8 more than 7 in last 2 months. Even though still I prefer Microsoft kept Start button and Aero for desktop mode in Windows 8 I don’t miss it much like few months ago.

I also bought Microsoft Touch mouse (kind of pricy) but works great with Windows 8 and make it easier and maybe that is another reason.

Yes it is hard to think to say goodbye to windows 7 one day but even great things have to end at some point and amazing Windows 7 is no different.

There will be time that people talk about Windows 7 as an out dated OS like the way we do today about XP and want to get rid of it.

So better to have best of both world now while we can enjoy and don’t just stuck in the past (Windows 7).
So just let hope Microsoft improve new Windows UI to something like that Microsoft Office Future Vision video because that is a beautiful Metro and Modern style UI and what we have on Windows 8 is just a start.
