AICTE(All India Council For Technical Education) announced the deployment of Microsoft Live@Edu to more than 10,000 technical colleges and institutes throughout India. This is the biggest ever cloud deployment for Microsoft in its history. The Live@Edu service is mostly free of cost which may lead to Microsoft not directly earning much from this deal. But Eduction sector is a good place to experiment things and learn from the experience to deploy in enterprise services.
This deal will allow 7.5 million students, faculty and staff to communicate from anywhere at any time. The cloud solves the problem of their previous IT system, enabling a seamless collaboration experience.

AICTE reviewed solutions from a range of vendors, including Microsoft, IBM and Google. One of the major factors in the decision to choose Microsoft’s cloud services for education was Microsoft’s comprehensive commitment to education across all the company’s products and programmes, as well as the system’s seamless interoperation with the entire Microsoft product portfolio. The council was also impressed by Microsoft’s extensive experience in higher education and ability to deploy a system across geographically distributed locations without adding significantly to the institutions’ IT management costs or complexity.
