Microsoft Surface Scores A Repairability Rating Of 4 Out Of 10 From iFixit Teardown

5

Today ifixit posted their tear down of Microsoft Surface for Windows RT. Microsoft Surface scored a repairability rating of 4 out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair). Here are the reasons iFixit posted at the end of the process,

Several components are modular and replaceable without requiring desoldering.

You can remove the battery pretty easily — once you’ve suffered through the opening procedure.

It’s pretty difficult to remove the rear panel and gain access to the device.

It is impossible to remove the keyboard connector without first removing the display from the frame.

LCD and glass are fused together and strongly adhered to the case, increasing cost of replacement.

You’ll have to use a heat gun and lots of patience to gain access to the glass and LCD.

Even though 4/10 may look as a poor score, Apple iPad 3 scored a repairability rating of 2 out of 10. Anyways, you don’t have to really worry about repairing Surface since it is one of the most reliable tablets out there.

How can anyone say it’s one of the most reliable tablets when there’s only a few units sold and it launched only recently? I think it’s too early to say.

Great ones always like that it is easy to under stand the future of it from its Born…

It’s still only an assumption. Reliability is something that is proven with usage.

Is that written using Google Translate? I have no idea what that comment is meant to mean.
