Microsoft To Bring Xbox & PC Games To iOS And Android

20

Through a licensing deal with Japanese smartphone game maker Klab, Microsoft will offer its Xbox and PC games from Apple’s iPhone and Android phones this fiscal year.  Microsoft’s “Age of the Empires” will be available as a free-to-play game worldwide on smartphones by the end of the fiscal year 2013 and other titles will follow.  No word as to games coming to Windows Phone.  Story is still developing.

I’m slowly losing interest in Windows Phone and it seems so is Microsoft

    • bnlf

yea. Microsoft released most of the apps i use for the iphone, i guess next time ill get one. For mobile OS i dont see any difference using iphone, android or the wp, i just miss the apps. They all have the same features i need to use. For tablet i still prefer the surface over an ipad.

Me too Microsoft is just losing WP user cuz of his stupid marketing

The problem is Windows Phone is on a different schedule than the rest of the company . Most of the company is delivering their version of “Blue” for Q4 2013, while the Windows Phone group is launching Win Phone Blue in Q1 2014. With a big re-org underway in the company the Windows Phone has kept completely silent. They may also have games in the works, but we simply do not know.

this is why I haven’t upgraded my handset yet I am still on the fence at this point even though an upgrade just freed up on my family plan a couple months ago. If apple releases a 4.7 phone I may sadly return to that platform.

      • Ocelotty1

It breaks my heart, but I have to agree. A 4.7″ iPhone would make me switch :( & I’ve been using Win ‘Mobile devices/ phones since 2002

why is everyone picking up this stupid article that is largely devoid of any real information? This is most likely Japanese language ports for the Japanese market.

this is sad. I can’t believe it. Why in the world would third party developers support windows phone right away if not even Microsoft will? I seriously want to stay in the windows phone camp but the more and more info I hear about it, I loose faith. What is going on over at Redmond? It seems that Microsoft is in a rush to port their software onto iOS and android in a rush to make money there at the lose of its own mobile OS.

App X (use any name) is released for iOS, and the Apple fanboys laugh because they can download an app that is not available on WP. A year later when the app makes it onto the WP store, the Apple fanboys laugh about how there are no original apps for WP, that we get the sloppy seconds.

Now we have an incomplete rumor of an app possibly being released for iOS 16 years after it was available for a Microsoft platform, and they are laughing even with no confirmation that it will not be available for WP? Enjoy your sloppy seconds, iOS users.

It’s probably only for the Japanese market, but it would be very disappointing if MS doesn’t release for WP.

    • Duel

Game only for japanese market? Whats the point doing that?

      Of course its worlwide release?

“Microsoft’s “Age of the Empires” will be available as a free-to-play game worldwide on smartphones by the end of the fiscal year 2013 and other titles will follow”

      Worldwide on smartphones!

      • 윌 스튜어트

        I just realised…

      • Stall

Even with that, MS really needs to improve their image in Japan.

    • Kruegerman

Why is your name in Hangul, Will Stewart?

      • 윌 스튜어트

You know what, I forgot why, I think I’ll change it.

        • Kruegerman

          Why? Hangul is cool.
Hey, look! I’m a poet and don’t even know it.

it sounds like it is going to be AoEO which is nothing to shout yippee about. However if its true and AoEO is coming to android and iOS but not wp then shame on MS. SHAMEEEEEEEEEE.
Now what would be cool.. is if they roll AoE II and III on WP and AoEO on android and iOS. really if you ever played AoEO its not that great. its just another grinder to get you to spend money.

  • Dan

You know what’s nice about MS, they’re reliable. You know they’ll always fuck up what they do in some way or another and its the loyal consumers who have to pay.

  • Mark Matheson

Microsoft do tend to treat their own OS like a 2nd rate citizen. We loyal few often watch in horror as MS release Skype, Photosynth and other app updates on iOS and Android well in advance of WP7 & 8.

What little advantages the WP platform has such as Office, Smartglass, Wordament and these new games are given away without hesitation. Leave it long enough and I am sure Android will get a Microsoft developed live tiles interface!

So since MS don’t seem to want to keep any exclusives, the only reason people will swap to Windows Phone is the build quality and amazing cameras Nokia have to offer.

Hard to show brand loyalty to Windows Phone when Microsoft clearly don’t.
