Microsoft Xbox Division In EMEA Saw A 75% Reduction In Workforce As Part Of The Layoffs

As you all know, there are about 5000 Microsoft employees losing their job as part of the reorganization and restructuring announced by CEO Satya Nadella. We recently reported that the Operating System’s group was hit hard by this layoffs as they are changing the functional structure itself by reducing testers. We already know that Xbox Entertainment Studios is going to closed as part of this layoffs. Apart from this, MCV reported that as many as 75% of full time Xbox EMEA roles were being cut and the Xbox UK team has also been reduced by 10%. Microsoft is also completely reducing the contract workers. Microsoft provided the following statement and reassured that Xbox One launch won’t be affected by these changes.

“We eliminated a number of EMEA roles in the UK to gain efficiencies, We remain very committed to the market and will continue to support our local development teams. We believe that the UK has exceptional games industry talent and we’ll continue to focus on game creation in the through Microsoft Studios like Rare, Lionhead Studios, Lift London and Soho Productions. Also, Europe continues to be an important market for Xbox, and we’re excited to launch Xbox One to fans in 13 mainland European markets in September.”

nadela is deliberately destroying Microsoft influence in areas where customers prefer Microsoft over apple.

I don’t really agree with that statement. It’s only people like you and me who are in touch constantly with tech news that know about these layoffs and whatever else.
Normal customers like my father who has a Lumia 925, or my brother who bought an Xbox One has no clue about this.
The article basically says Nadella is removing staff who are really doing much, and the it also says that the ones who will remain with their jobs can still be more productive and more efficient.
Apart from their Xbox exclusive tv shows, etc., everything should stay the same. So for you to say that he is destroying Microsoft influence is fallacious.
You could actually say that he is getting rid of unnecessary stuff and staff and restructuring the company in order to run more efficiently.

When Nadella was voted as CEO, he already had his ideas and plans for Microsoft and all the other board members knew of it and essentially ir is what made them vote him as CEO.
And although he is CEO and head of the company, he can’t just make a decision and everyone has to follow; his decision would have to be backed up by a meeting and a vote in favour by the majority of the board members.

A misinformed statement at best, delusional at worst. Anyone paying attention over the last three years knew this was coming.

Ballmer kept ranking in profits from legacy products while mismanaging changing market trends, creating muddle strategy in a environment of worst kind of bureaucracy.

Nadella is just cleaning up the mess he left behind.

Start working at home with<- Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this – 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail
