Microsoft’s Phil Spencer: “Xbox One is Kinect. They are not separate systems.”

Microsoft has been releasing a lot of information regarding the Xbox One at Gamescom 2013 in Germany. Speaking to CVG at Gamescom, Microsoft VP Phil Harrison confirmed that every Xbox One will come with Kinect and they are not going to sell cheaper Xbox One SKU by dropping Kinect from the bundle. However, Xbox One will be able to function without Kinect connected to it.

Xbox One is Kinect. They are not separate systems. An Xbox One has chips, it has memory, it has Blu-ray, it has Kinect, it has a controller. These are all part of the platform ecosystem.
