MLG, MLB.TV, Encore, Movieplex, and Epix Among New Apps Available on the Xbox

Microsoft announced a new set of Xbox apps available today, oddly enough, mostly for the Xbox 360.   The announcement includes a number of apps for gamers, sports fans, and movie buffs.

MLG App 4The Major League Gaming (MLG) app is now available for on the Xbox 360 in Australia, Canada, the U.K. and the U.S.  You can watch all of’s programming including the best gamers competing in MLG’s premier competitions, live broadcasts of gaming tournaments and professionally produced gaming content.

The Major League Baseball app is now also available on the Xbox One.  MLB.TV MLG App 4Premium subscribers will enjoy live, HD-quality video of every out-of-market regular season game in 2014. Full game archives for every game will be available as well.  Requires an Xbox Live Gold membership.


Starting today on Xbox 360 the ENCORE PLAY and MOVIEPLEX PLAY enertainment apps are available from Starz on the Xbox 360.  This is in addition to STARZ PLAY which debuted on the Xbox 360 in December 2013. The apps include a catalog of more than 1,500 premium movies.  Both apps are free with subscription through a participating television provider. 
Xbox 360 users who are also Time Warner Cable Digital Basic and Preferred TV subscribers will now be able to access all of the great content in the EPIX app for no additional cost through June 18th.   Simply sign-in with your Time Warner Cable credentials to be authenticated. EPIX has announced that they are developing an app for Xbox One.

    And is the 360 Ever going to get SKYPE? they have taken away messenger video and even chat and now there is only Kinect video that is not on the xboxone .. so I can’t do video between 360 and ONE
