Moorea, the first tablet-optimized Windows 8 Office app pictured

Windows8Italia has released some new screen shots and information about Moorea, the first completely new Office application in some years.

The software is clearly optimised for tablets, with clear Metro styling and large, finger friendly targets, and the app appears to be for collecting notes and information in a rearrangable  grid.

Of note is that the app allows these notes to be exported as a HTML file which can then be viewed in any web browser.

My guess is that the app is being developed on a regular GUI computer,  and the usual Windows window frame is from the development system.

interesting too is that the “large … targets” could also integrate well with Kinetic and make the experience more fun if hooked to a larger screen or in the presence of a large audience.

Intriguing, but how is it different from Tumblr?
