Next Generation Index Serving Platform For Bing From Microsoft Research

Microsoft Research today posted information on project codenamed “Tiger” to develop next generation indexing platform for Bing based on SSD technology which improve overall efficiency and open doors for further improvements on Bing.

Microsoft Research Asia and Bing’s engineering teams in China and the US collaborated to develop “Tiger,” the next-generation index serving platform for Bing. Index serving is the most critical infrastructure for any search engine. The new architecture in Tiger leverages emerging Solid State Disk (SSD) technology to improve overall efficiency and open doors for further improvements
