No Facebook App for Windows RT in development yet

Facebook has been slow in their support of the Windows 8 Metro environment, with the company not currently planning an app for the user interface.

"We are constantly evaluating our strategy for supporting new platforms … as the market and consumer adoption evolves," a company official has told AdAge.

While this wait and see approach could hamper early growth of the Windows RT platform, which are unable to use legacy Windows applications, it should be borne in mind that Facebook was also very slow in releasing an iPad app, and likely sees apps as a hindrance to their revenue growth due to reduce advertising opportunities on mobile interfaces.

Of course there are plenty of third-party Facebook apps in the Windows 8 Store, such as Facebook Touch above, and Facebook’s reticence may simply be those developer’s windfall.

Sounds like Microsoft needs to get out the checkbook again… I say Microsoft should just port the code and maintain themselves actually… In retrospect/hindsight I’m surprised this wasn’t already done…

Why not just pin FB to the start page? I’m assuming it’s just not considered a touch friendly solution? Fb apps don’t ever seem that great to me.

FB Touch works well but pinning the page works too.

Is FB Touch done by well respected developer? I kind of feel uncomfortabe to let third party having my Facebook log in nfo.

The one thing I miss from an app is not being able to upload or share to FB… but with Facebook Uploader, the problem went away…

why the heck would someone need a restricted app, from the actual browser experience??
    Come on really???

If I am correct, FB did not develop its app for WP7 – MS did even though FB is baked into the WP os. runonsentenceover
