Nokia today announced that their HERE group CEO Michael Halbherr has decided to leave Nokia to pursue his own entrepreneurial interests. While Microsoft has completed the transition and restructuring after acquiring Nokia’s Devices and Services unit, seems like Nokia haven’t settled yet. Since Michael is leaving, Nokia will now begin a search for a new leader of HERE both inside and outside the organization. In the meantime, Cliff Fox, currently SVP of Core Map Group at HERE will assume the position of acting CEO.
“It has been a pleasure and honor to work with remarkable and smart people during my time at Nokia and HERE,” said Michael, who joined Nokia after the Finnish group acquired his Berlin-based location software company Gate5 in 2006.
He added: “I am proud that we have been able to create a leading location cloud company widely recognized across industries, by customers and by opinion leaders. Now the time is right for me to focus once again on entrepreneurial activities. I wish the team the best of success for the future.”
