Thats the leak i have been waiting for aaaaaaall the time… <3

  • Bugbog

Too big; I’ve already got a 10″ RT, I want an 8″ one!

    • SategB

So your one of the 12 that actually purchased a RT. Congratulations!

      • nohone

And what difference does it make to you what Bugbog, myself, or anyone else buys? It is none of your damn business, if he likes it and wants a different sized device, then good. You are the one that continuously claims that you are a Microsoft fan, it is a good thing if they sell more. But then again, we all know you are just another Apple fan, putting on your little act thinking you have everyone tricked. You know quite well there were more than 12 sold, but you just want to attack what you don’t like because it does not have the Apple logo on it and keep acting like a child.

        • SategB

You misunderstand I think it is great! Kept the write down from bringing $200 closer to a full billion.

          Thanks man!

          • nohone

So when people buy a product that is being sold for a profit, that increases the loss for a company?

          • SategB

And more good news is they made 12 more of the Surface 2 and they are close to selling out!

          • CyberAngel

            Only 11 left !
            You have been warned !!

        • Lou_Sasshole

Don’t worry about what the pole smoker thinks.

          • nohone

Now, now. No need to talk about him like that and bring yourself down to his level. He obviously has “issues,” telling us that he personally knows the people he routinely attacks here, along with delusions of grandeur and unable to separate his fantasy world from real life. But going after him like that just gives him something else to whine and cry about.

          • Lou_Sasshole

Oh I’ve only recently started visiting this site, so I didn’t know he was a frequent troll.

          • nohone

No problem. Yes, there are a number of trolls here, SategB being one of them. He likes to claim that he is good friends with Steve Ballmer, and then goes on to attack him on a personal level. He will talk about how he is a die-hard Microsoft fanboy, but he praises every step that Apple makes, while condemning every product to be made by Redmond.

Another one is JReuben1. He likes to claim that he was once a MS MVP, but now he is staunchly in the Linux camp. He will make wild claims such as Microsoft needs to abandon Windows and become a company that provides tech support for Ubuntu, and nothing else. To back up his claim, he likes to claim that Microsoft has dropped Windows support on Azure, and now only allows Linux distros to be used. And then there is the regular comments about how nobody uses Office because everyone has switched to LibreOffice.
There are a few others that troll here. And there has been a recent upswing in the number of people anonymously posting as Guest, and a few seem to use the same language of the trolls.
But welcome, and look forward to talking with you later.

          • Lou_Sasshole

Thank you, I like this site very much and apart from the SategB guy everyone else seems nice. It’s a shame that there are trolls like that who like to slander people.

As for JReuben1, that guy seems like a freak. I have always used Office as well as pretty much everyone I know, all these other alternatives are just shells and the only thing they have over Office is that they’re free. Sure MS will lose some market share but they will still have majority market share in the PC market (it’s not going anywhere despite what others say).

No company is without faults, but it seems Microsoft gets hated on just for the sake of it (since it’s the cool thing to do now, either from Apple fanboys or just bitter ignorants). There is no other OS I would use for the desktop and I actually like this modern/metro UI.

          • CyberAngel

            Is there a filter option?

          • nohone

Not that I know of. The Disqus comment system is quite limited. Easy for smaller (but growing) sites like this one, but you lose functionality.

  • Sean D.

You had me till, “AT&T/Verizon LTE support”. :-/

  • Emily the Strange

this idiot should stop leaking stuff… really, its few days before the announcement, leave it like that get out of your mom’s basement and stop ruining the surprise… one or two leaks are nice… but its getting boring this guy. I wish someone would go to his house and break his legs so he would care about other things for a while.

    • rjmlive

Well, to be fair, you didn’t have to click.

      • neva

But he would see the image anyways, here on other website he would eventually see it not clicking anywhere.
Anyway, I always thought the brands “leaked” the stuff so they could know the public reaction to they products not releasing them officially so they could do small last minute changes or say they some problem and cancel everything before it is too late…

      • AS147

Its not that he is spoiling the surprise for me, he is spoiling it for the press and everyone else who will get stories coming out at the Nokia press event like “nothing to see here” or “no surprises from Nokia”. I am with Emily, the leaks need to be stopped. Look at the massive secrecy Apple try to keep and the power it wields where people are scrabbling to get to the event and everything that comes out people haven’t seen in leaks is a potential to wow the crowd. New designs are IP and should be kept secret as it gives competitors the ability to nullify the innovation through copying or modifying to a better implementation.

        • rjmlive

I agree with that to a certain degree.. but Apple has a different level of advertising and presentation compared to anything we’ve seen from MS or Nokia. The majority of Apple and Android people likely still haven’t seen, or care about a tablet leak from Nokia. Even news that Nokia might make a tablet wouldn’t even cross their radar.

Early slips like this create chatter and right now, that’s just as important as suspense. Once Windows RT/Phone is considered the hot shit, then I think the secrecy will foster greater buzz and interest. Right now, they have some momentum I would say, but they are still only hovering slightly above the dead BB in market share and are gaining little to no interest from current Apple and Android users. New consumers into tablet and smart phone space will never hear of such things unless it’s a blurb on tv, their friends tell them, or they find out months later. Leaks only impact us nerds who love this stuff.

I try to avoid movie trailers when I get glimpses of things I care about being surprised by. If you feel the same way about such leaks, you’ll just have to consider doing what you can to avoid them. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you.. but there are bigger fish to fry atm.

    • WPhan

Pretty hostile – it is just a gadget and let’s be honest only a few Microsoft fans and the last remaining Nokia hardcores like me are at all interested.

    • grs_dev

Ummm it’s kind his job! I mean his claim to fame is “leaking” stuff…

      • AS147

Agreed but we don’t have to like it and I don’t. Also whoever it is it can’t be that hard to stop them as the audience with this sort of information is pretty small. C’mon Nokia/MS plug that hole.

        • spazinvader

Why plug the hole? Nokia is getting a free marketing right?

        • grs_dev

You’re assuming they are not on board with this leak!

    • Razzy

Why don’t you shut the fuck up you dirty cunt

      • Yuan Taizong

Please restrain yourself from uncivilized comments, this is a Microsoft site, not an Apple, or Google*, or ZDNet or Sony site (–_–)

        * = I’m looking at you YouTube.

      • WPhan

You understand this is the internet and we you see an alias with a picture of a girl it is some hairy fat guy sitting in his parents basement with a Doritos stained shirt half size to small

  • jim

WTF Windows RT is not good OS and the problem is APPS. iPad is much better (vs Windows rt only). Amazing tablet is Surface PRO 2 (with original FULL Windows 8)

    • Cruncher

Depends. iPad has no USB Host, no full Office, no Outlook, no SD card support, no splitscreen multitasking, no printer/scanner support, no multiuser capabilities etc. That’s all out of the box with nearly any RT Tablet.
And while the Surface Pro 2 is certainly a nice device, it is not particulary good as tablet. Too heavy, too thick, not fanless, limited battery duration.

      • Guest

You just made the case better than most of MS’s marketing combined ;-)

      • jim

OK for usb , office, sd card and gorgeous Outlook. But Windows RT is weak because windows store SUCKS. Sorry this is my opinion. But tablet with Full version Win8 is BY FAR my first choice.

        • PoohGQ

Lemme ask you this: What apps do you currently use that are not available on Windows RT? Be honest..!

      • AS147

@disqus_NcLD8lTfQS:disqus , MS (Steve Ballmer) seems to have confirmed the long time rumour that Office will be available for the iPad soon. Apart from the fact that I think this is ABSOLUTE MADNESS on a par with shooting oneself in the face the other differences in RT (combined with the near iPad price and lack of any other OEMs in that space) is not going to be enough to move people from buying an iPad.
Also making the changes to support an SD card I suspect is not hard and neither probably very far off. As a media consumption device its a very identifiable weakness and probably will be dealt with. Plus Outlook.com works very well (though obviously needs an internet connection).
So in summary if there is a time when Office does become available for iOS you can assume the battle for Surface 2 and any MS Windows 8 device will be a much harder thing to win for all OEM’s.
        MS PLEASE reconsider this stupidity.

        • spazinvader

Office might be available to iPad. Ok. But it’s already pre-installed in RT. Meaning you have to buy iPad AND buy Office. Just imagine the price difference that will make.
Memory card support for tablet is debatable. A Normal USB will suffice, in my point of view. If you still want Memory card support, buy a card reader and use it. The point being this is possible with Surface with lot less spend whereas this is not the case with iPad.

          • PoohGQ

Actually I think it will only be available on iOS and android if you have Office 365 subscription.
I’m not sure but according to the demo I watched from MS Office Program Managers, it seems Office will not be available to all on those platforms.
So, yeah! It will be costly for all other users not on the Windows platform.

  • redtidal

Cellular support. That is what’s missing from Surface.

    • techieg

MS already confirmed that cellular support on Surface 2 is coming in January 2014.

      • redtidal

        next year.

don’t you think they should’ve included that from the start?

    • PoohGQ

That’s exactly why I’ll be getting this Nokia rather than the Surface 2 due to the lack of LTE radio..

  • frankwick

oh how I wish this really ran WP instead of RT

    • Cruncher

Are you crazy? Windows RT is significantly better than WP in nearly any aspect and feature. And that’s even without the fact, that WP would suck on a tablet.

    • neva

I wish my Lumia really ran Windows RT instead of WP and real Windows 8 with a atom baytrail would be what I’m waiting for years!

      • haha123

That would suck because RT is designed for landscape and larger-screen devices. And don’t forget the fact that it’s only compatible with ARM-architecture processors, so running RT on a Lumia is virtually impossible. Also, RT doesn’t have GSM (phone) capabilities.

MS are planning on merging WP with RT. But then the question is, how will the Metro UI be? Portrait like WP, or a landscape ‘Start’ like RT? I guess the best option is to provide both.

        • PoohGQ

Lumia’s are running on ARM processors, though!
MS is planning on merging WP & RT but moreso WP will be swallowed into RT. RT will most likely just take on more of a WP look..

  • PoohGQ

“It will be powered by Snapdragon 800 processor at 2.15 hz”
Uhmm.. 2.15 Hz??? Some mistakes are excuseable but my 9 year old boy is starting to get into gadgets and reading about them too, and I don’t want him wondering why 12 hz would be revolutional.

  • Yuan Taizong

Hell yeah, this’ll be awesome :-D

  • nshjybdhkfcskjg

When can we get some decent games on windows 8/rt. If we look at top games compared to ios and android top games, ours look like shite. Ffs microsoft

  • AS147

I look at this and ask what differentiates it from other RT tablets (apart from the fact that there are very few OEMS out there making any)?
No NFC, no great Nokia camera, no inductive charging…

  • jimski27

32GB and no micro-SD support. That’s not gonna work. Hopefully that’s an oversight. Not overjoyed over this tablet being RT. Guess its ok for an average consumer who only consumes (like a typical iPad / Tab owner). But I need Win8 to run Access applications and other programs that I can’t do with RT.
Sadly, I find myself using my 8″ Acer W3, despite its crappy screen, over my Surface RT. Only pull out the Surface if I have a lot of typing to do. The W3 is easier to use for reading news, watching videos, consuming. And while it might not be ideal as a production device, the fact that I can do anything with it, gives it the edge. I will be looking for an 8″ replacement this Fall. Hopefully Nokia, or Microsoft, or whomever, don’t disappoint.
