NPD research firm released their data on gaming industry sales yesterday. Microsoft has got both good and bad news from these numbers. Good news is that, January NPD Group figures revealed Xbox(Xbox One+Xbox 360) sold the most games across all console platforms in January with 2.27 million units sold,
making up 47 percent of software market share.
During the month of January, Xbox* held five of the top 10 spots on the console game title list in the U.S.: “Battlefield 4,” “Call of Duty: Ghosts” (Xbox 360 and Xbox One), “Grand Theft Auto V” and “Minecraft.” Gamers love Xbox and our community has never been more vibrant on the industry-leading Xbox Live service. Since launch, over 2.6 billion global Gamerscore has been achieved, 165 million global achievements have
been unlocked and 130 million global Game DVR clips have been uploaded.
On the negative side, Sony’s PS4 outsold Xbox One by a significant margin. Sony’s official Twitter account tweeted this information yesterday. Currently, Microsoft’s Xbox One is $100 costlier than Sony, but comes with Kinect and improved overall entertainment experience. Also, Sony leads the overall console shipment numbers worldwide as it is available in more than triple the number of countries Xbox One is currently available.
