PSA: Windows 8.1 Preview and Windows RT 8.1 Preview Expire On January 15th

In the rare case you’re still running the Windows 8.1 Preview it expires in less than a month.  Windows 8.1 is a free upgrade so need to wait.  Here’s what to do:

  • If you installed the Windows 8.1 Preview or Windows RT 8.1 Preview from the Windows Store, you can update to the final release through the Windows Store by following the instructions available here, or by clicking here to initiate the process. Note that you will have to reinstall all of your applications (desktop or modern) after doing this.
  • If you installed a volume license version of Windows 8.1 Preview for evaluation purposes, we would recommend that you install a fresh version of Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 8.1 Enterprise for ongoing use. If you have to upgrade an existing machine, you can do so using volume license media. This can be done by manually running SETUP.EXE from the media, or can be automated by running “setup.exe /auto:data”. As with any Preview update, only data and accounts will be migrated; all apps will need to be reinstalled.

and then today some guy was saying he was still using win8 consumer preview (yeah not 8.1) and said I was “drunk” and other person said I was stupid. because I said even cracking windows 8.1 (from trusted crackers) would be better than using these previews that have a lot of bugs, wont get any security patch, and can have really bad security risks.
I understand some people using previews but wow… I cant understand how they expect it to be safe or better after what? its been like 1.5 years after win8 RTM was released.
the funny part its… how using cracked windows is more legal than using a non licensed preview windows? but of course im wrong for those 2 idiots. hope people upgrade or downgrade but never stay in these previews. the funny part its people who use WP always say how android is buggy and risky, but they still use a preview crappy version from 1.5 years ago.
