Report: Bill Gates May Get Involved In Product Development At Microsoft After Announcing New CEO

Confirming the previous reports from WSJ and Recode, Bloomberg today reported that Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates may get involved in product development at Microsoft after the new CEO was announced. There were multiple reports in the past few days that Satya Nadella will be announced as the new CEO and Bill Gates will step down from his chairman position to get involved in product development.

As the board prepares to appoint Satya Nadella as Microsoft’s next chief executive officer, it’s considering replacing Gates as board chairman, people with knowledge of the matter have said. Gates would remain a director and be involved in product development, focusing less on administration, the people said. He’s weighing going to work at Microsoft at least one day a week, a person briefed on the matter said.

Bill Gates is awesome but does anyone remember what happened with the Courier? Imagine where MS would be if he had let it get released. All over missing email which could’ve been added in?

Well of course but if they launched the Courier back then it would’ve been a game changer for MS.

Marissa Mayer to Microsoft[get a damn hot female CEO, just once]
    Stephen Elop to Yahoo
    Sinofsky/Belfiore to Nokia

Marissa Mayer would be bad for Microsoft, she is all about discontinuing services, Microsoft is about preserving them, in the business-world it’s always great to have something to rely on, you can be sure than when you upgrade your Microsoft contract/O.S. that everything works, but she’ll ”break with the past” which means breaking with business-partners.
