Rumors On Surface 3, Xbox TV, Surface Notebook Emerges Online

Microsoft Surface Plans

Most of the consumer electronics companies are busy showing off their products at CES happening in the US this week. Microsoft last year decided to move away from CES since its timing didn’t align with Microsoft’s product cycle. If you were really missing some news from Microsoft for CES, consider this as your savior. @MSFTnerd today tweeted about some of Microsoft’s future plans.

  • Microsoft is bringing InstantGo support for BayTrail+, Mullins and other SoCs with Windows 8.1 Update 1.
  • Microsoft is planning to bring Surface 3 powered by Nvidia Tegra K1 processor with Denver CPU (64-bit ARMv8) in end of 2014.
  • You can expect Surface Mini and LTE versions of Surface 2 before the end of 2014.
  • Microsoft is planning to use AMDs upcoming Mullins CPU instead of their custom designed chip for its upcoming Xbox TV.
  • Microsoft’s previous plans to release Surface notebook is on hold for now.

I would like to see a Surface Notebook with the quality of Surface tablet.

    • Truitt Dill

and the specs of a razer blade or high end mac….

    • Prayaas

You’re forgetting an important thing about Microsoft which kills the idea before conception: OEMs.
They’re already on to Android and ChromeOS. Even Windows RT is more useful than them. No winrot, awesome file management, full Office, all that 70% Windows users need.

      • Ben A

OEMs need to take serous note, to Microsoft concept devices in phones and tablets and PCs, they should think less of completion rivaly against OEMs, and focus on quality of devices and no bloat ware like Microsoft first party products like Surface and future Lumia’s & Asha.

        • Prayaas

I’m sorry I’m interested in your comment, but please re-phrase it. I do not quite understand it.
Again, sorry for my ignorance, and no offence seriously.

I want to see a Surface NotePad, period…:)

    • jaylyric

Like the Courier that was never released? That I still want to this day..

      • Rico Alexander

A double screen tablet would be tough to pull off especially at a reasonable price.

        • Pai_Mei1

Is this guy legitimate? Does he have a history?

        • jaylyric

Yeah. That’s why they killed the Courier idea.. :( I would pay between $300- maybe $600 depending on how good it would be. That Courier looked amazing.. To me it’s concept was better than any thing that’s been released to this day.

is MS making a TV TV?? or a box??

    • Asgard

Im sure its box without AAA gaming. I would bet games like solitaire to be there though.

      • khingjay

What would be the point of them making a box when there is already a Xbox One already out??

        • Ray

Price I believe. With this, we can expect Xbox TV and light game surge. Which in term benefits Xbox One.

          • Asgard

Exactly. It was rumored long ago that MS was releasing a much cheaper version of Xbox which is not for gaming. Entertainment only. And very cheap, like $200.

  • frankwick

I would buy an XboxTV if:
    1. It had integrated Xbox OS
    2. Had integrated Kinect & HD camera
    3. Was touch enabled

    • 12Danny123

or preinstalled Xbox One software. e.g play XB games without the box. all inside the TV

what the heck is InstantGo ?

    • -7-

I think its the ability to turn screen on and be ready with all open apps as soon as u remove the screen cover of the tablet.

  • jaylyric

I was just thinking about a notebook type Surface and Surface 3 on yesterday. I didn’t even know that they were even considering a notebook type Surface. That will be awesome! Especially if it has a stylus, great battery life and is thin and light. I don’t really care too much about the latter, but some people will make a big deal about it. If no certain Surface 3 release dates aren’t announced at MWC which I don’t expect it to be anyway. I may upgrade to a Surface 2,then wait for the 3 to be released. I believe this will be a huge year for MS.

    • -7-

Why would u want a notebook type surface. I hope MS makes a normal tablet style surface 3 and offer a hard laptop like keyboard attachment as an accessory that would fit any surface model.

      • jaylyric

My view is perhaps different.. What Imagine is the Surface Pro with more powerful notebook like specs, and say 13 inch screen, with a more Surface (RT) like profile.

The surface notebook would be great if it had a 13″-15″ screen, and the specs of the rmbp15.

  • Lemming

People, if you want a laptop, go buy one.
I like the Surface AS A 10″ TABLET, and I hope it stays that way. I hope MS also comes out with a Surface Pro 3 instead of some lame LTE Surface Pro 2 or something. Though internet anywhere you go is enticing…
Maybe a Surface Pro 3 with LTE, Microsoft? I’d buy that in a heartbeat. I’m going to be looking for a replacement for my 5 year old laptop soon…

Any Surface Mini Pros with Bay Trail chips?
