Windows 8.1 Update 1 Build

If you are more into Windows Phone 8.1 leaks in the past couple of days, time to move to Windows 8.1 Update 1. We already saw the changes that are coming in Windows 8.1 Update 1 in which Microsoft is trying to address the concerns of keyboard/mouse users of Windows 8.1. Some of the most notable changes include the ability to pin Windows Store apps in taskbar, ability to close/minimize/close Windows Store apps via black bar on the top, search and power buttons and Start screen and more. Today, a new Win 8.1 2014 Update build  got leaked with build string. 6.3.9600.17019.WINBLUE_GDR.140205-2003. This 9600.17019.WINBLUE_GDR.140205-2003 is a Escrow build and you can expect Microsoft to sign-off RTM build of Windows 8.1 update 1 soon. It was reported that this update will be rolled out to consumers in April via Windows Store.

I’m sure you mean Windows Update and not Windows Store, right?

    • Johan Spånberg

The first update for Windows 8 went live through the store.

      • Bruce

Yes but that was Windows 8.1. 8.1 update 1 is supposed to be like a service pack.

        • Eric Bryner

Exactly, and why can’t people understand that update means update, instead of assuming its an upgrade, which is through the store?

      • Asgard

Bruce is right. There is an error in the article. Update 1 is definitely delivered through Windows Update, we have known this for some time already. It will be optional in April and important or critical in May.

So we see two screenshots of a registry editor with everything looking exactly like on Windows 8.1 (aside from the store icon on the task bar). How exciting!!!
