Microsoft is entering VERY BAD TERRITORY by leaving the check box checked at the end of the Skype install to install the Bing Bar. I USED TO SAY that the difference between Microsoft and Google was that Googles box is always checked and that MS always gave you the option to check the box. Microsoft is flirting with scumbag behaviour with this and I don’t like it.

so what?… skype is OWNED by Microsoft. Google never owned skype and still i had to uninstall google toolbar and stupid chrome from my dad’s computer even though google didn’t own skype. that was the reason i never used skype until it was announced Microsoft would adquiere it.

even directx 9 install asks you if you want to install bing bar. and guess what? its checked. and not for that reason people complain about directx9 install specially when still alot of games need it even new ones.

Leaving the checkbox checked by default is Googles fortay. I see Google products installed on way too many pc’s and the people don’t know how it got there, not because they were too stupid to uncheck the box, but because Google is banking on that they won’t uncheck the box because they just don’t know as much as some of us about computers. the Bing bar isn’t on nearly as many computers because they usually don’t shove it down peoples throats as much. I am against ANY boxes being checked by default. These are scumbag tactics that prey on consumers that simply do not know any better. That is my point.

I agree with you. The Bing toolbar is not strategically significant and MS should avoid risking annoying people over it.  Honestly I am surprised to hear the Bing toolbar still exists.
