The last major version of Microsoft’s graphics platform DirectX 11 was announced about 6 years back. Since then the desktop graphics API development has stagnated. During this time, AMD has developed their own set of APIs called Mantle. OpenGL/OpenCL has come a long way since then. Last week we reported that Microsoft is making some announcement about their next generation DirectX platform at Game Developers Conference in March. Microsoft is promising better tools that will allow developers to squeeze every last drop of performance out of your PC, tablet, phone and console. AMD today announced the new Turbo Dock technology that automatically adjusts performance of the AMD accelerated processing unit (APU) higher while a hybrid PC is docked and move it to lower power consumption mode in tablet mode. Following the announcement from Intel regarding their official support for Dual OS device, AMD also confirmed their official support as well. In collaboration with BlueStacks, AMD is taking different approach to provide this Dual OS solution. Instead of switching between OS, AMDs solution is to run Andorid apps within Windows either in full screen or in Windowed mode. So, you can now pin Android apps among Windows Store apps in Start screen.
