AMD today announced the availability of its next generation APUs codenamed Kaveri from today. This is the first time AMD has included heterogeneous system architecture support in its APU. The chip is based on new generation of Steamroller CPU which offers great efficiency. AMD A10-7000 Series APU, codenamed “Kaveri”. These new processors pack an all-new architecture, including HSA features, Radeon™ R7 graphics and AMD TrueAudio technology. AMD is also claiming that this new APU offer better performance over comparable Intel counterparts. Also, the top end AMD APU costs about $180 while Intel Core i5 processor costs around $240, so there is a significant price advantage for AMD too.
