Recently, I came across as Microsoft patent application which was published to the public. In the patent, Microsoft described as system for multi-user and multi-device collaboration. With the advent of different types of devices, users uses various technologies for managing documents of various types, data of various types, calendar information, contacts information, and the like. Users are able to create and share useful presentations, charts, images, and the like. But, users are not able to collaborate with others on the data they created. For example, users gather in a conference room with printed paper documents, presentations, or other, followed by hand-writing collaborative information on a board, and followed by transcription of such information onto one or more notepads or into one or more computing devices. This is clearly not an efficient way to do it and this Microsoft patent is trying to solve this issue. Abstract: Multi-user, multi-computing device collaborative work experience is provided. One or ...

The task reminders will be modified based on user’s time, location, tasks ahead, and several other factors. Abstract: A computing device learns over time how to identify task reminders that are most likely to be helpful to a user in different contexts. The task reminders can remind the user of activities that the user needs to do. The computing device displays a graphical user interface (GUI) that contains the task reminders identified as being most likely to be helpful to the user in the user’s current context. According to market research firm Canalys, Microsoft is now at 4th place in the UK tablet market with their Surface devices. Apple, Samsung and Amazon are above them and Google Nexus devices is following them in sales. Microsoft sold 71,540 units in the quarter, up 27.1 per cent on a year earlier, to grab a 3.3 per cent market share. Out of which, 58 per cent of these units were of the ARM-powered RT version with the Surface Pro devices comprising the rest. Canalys senior analyst Tim Coulling reckons channel partners helped Microsoft shift more devices, but added that weakness in consumer spending was hitting the Surface less dramatically than others. “There is more of a commercial opportunity for Surface,” he told The Channel, “plus Microsoft has a channel programme and is putting units into Authorised Device Resellers (ADRs)”. Relegated to fifth spot by Microsoft, Google struggled to gain traction, ...
