Not a surprise here. Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 device Surface Pro 2 scored the same repairability score as its predecessors. It scored 1 out of 10, while 10 being the easiest to repair. Recently I came across couple of interesting patents filed by Microsoft. Find their abstracts below. Sensor-in-pixel display system with near infrared filter A display system includes both a cover panel and a display panel. The display panel includes multiple display pixels and multiple sensor elements configured to detect infrared light reflected from an object touching or close to the cover panel. The filter layer is configured to increase rejection of near infrared light reflected from the object prior to detection of the infrared light by the multiple sensor elements. The filter layer can be positioned in different locations, such as between the display panel and the cover panel, within the display panel, or within or on top of the cover panel. Glow touch feedback for virtual input devices The claimed subject matter is directed to providing feedback in a touch screen device in response to an actuation of a virtual ...

The yellow pixels on the display turned out to be more of a blue/green shade of yellow instead of pure yellow. Lenovo forums had lots people complaining about the same and Lenovo quickly acknowledged the issue. The Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro utilizes a Samsung LCD panel with a Pentile Red-Green-Blue-White (RGBW) pixel matrix, as opposed to a standard Red-Green-Blue (RGB) matrix on more conventional LCD panels.  The Pentile matrix uses a modified physical layout of the pixels, taking advantage of white sub-pixels to deliver a brighter display at lower power consumption level. A drawback of this modified matrix is a lower color luminance than a standard RGB matrix.  This is most noticeable when viewing yellows.  Some yellows may appear greenish ...
