Microsoft continues to make improvements to its Office Online suite. Today Microsoft added a number of new features to Excel online that have been traditionally found in the desktop application. Based on feedback the most requested feature from power Excel users was VBA (visual basic applications) support. Excel Online now contains improved support for files that contain VBA. You can now open and edit VBA-enabled spreadsheets without removing (or corrupting) the VBA contained in the file. Commenting support has also come to Excel Online and users can now insert new comments as well as edit and delete existing comments. Hot on the heels of rebranding SkyDrive to OneDrive, Microsoft is also planning to re-brand its online productivity suite Office Web Apps as Office Online. Individual apps in the suite would be rebranded as Word Online, Excel Online, PowerPoint Online and OneNote Online. ZDNET also reported that Microsoft is planning to Office Online templates to users. There is no information on when Microsoft will make these changes public, but expect it to happen soon. Office Web Apps are touch-friendly web applications that let you create, edit and share your Excel, Word, PowerPoint and OneNote files from any browser.
