Somewhat unexpectedly Microsoft has confirmed that Halo: Spartan Assault will launch on Steam’s digital distribution service on April 5th.   Halo: Spartan Assault was an exclusive to Windows Phone originally but later debuted on the Windows 8 Store.  It has also come out on the Xbox One and 360. Steam and confirms that it will include 30 missions that not only deliver intense gameplay, but also explore the Spartan Ops program seen in Halo 4.  Special features include Steam achievements, leaderboards, and Steam trading cards, and Steam Cloud save games.  The cooperative mode has been stripped from this version of the game. At E3 last year, Microsoft showed us a teaser for the upcoming Halo game for Xbox One. The teaser even revealed that the game will be coming in 2014. In an interview to Gamezone, Steve Downes, the voice actor for Halo’s main character Master Chief said that he don’t expect to see Halo 5 until 2015. I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5 … I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2. As Microsoft’s 343 Industries studio is busy preparing their next game for Xbox One console with transition of platform and technology, they have made some notable additions and changes to their team. Tim Longo from LucasArts has joined us Halo team as the creative director. Tim carries with him almost two decades of game development experience during which he has worked on titles such as Tomb Raider, Star Wars: Republic Commando and most recently the unreleased FPS, Star Wars: First Assault. Joseph Staten who worked on several earlier Halo titles when it was developed by Bungie is now returning to Microsoft. Nancy Tellem is the president of Microsoft’s Xbox Entertainment Studios which is now creating original programming for Microsoft’s Xbox platform. During a panel on the future of content at Fortune’s Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen, Nancy spoke about the future of TV and how the content will involve with the upcoming technologies. She also revealed that Microsoft is working on interactive original content that is different from what it exists today. “Unlike developing a show and adding interactivity after the fact,” she said, “we are going to start from the beginning.” ,”You can’t have interactivity for interactivity’s sake.” Microsoft also revealed that they are also working on a Halo based TV program for Xbox users directed by  director Steven Spielberg. Microsoft has announced with the advent of Halo 4 the company has now sold more than 50 million copies of the game in total, and that the game has seen more than 5 billion hours being played on Xbox Live. The game racked up these numbers over the last 11 years and 8 editions, with the first release of  Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001.
