Microsoft revealed ID@Xbox program last year which allowed independent developers to self-publish Xbox One games to Xbox Store. Even though Microsoft announced this program months back, we are yet to indie titles on Xbox One Store. Phil Spencer from Microsoft today revealed that NinjaBee’s Nutjitsu and a mystery Team17 Worms game will be among the first ID@Xbox titles released. Nutjitsu is a free-to-play Windows 8 puzzle game from Ninja Bee, the studio behind A World of Keflings. Team 17 has confirmed to Eurogamer its plan to self-publish Worms Battlegrounds on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Game Informer snagged an exclusive interview with Microsoft Studios vice president Phil Spencer.  He talked about their the massive interest they are seeing from Independent Game Developers for their ID@Xbox program.  Spencer has mentioned something that the indie game developer’s would not have access to on the PS4, Windows Azure & Microsoft’s 300,000 servers.  “Our relationship with the indie development community has always been strong,” Spencer says.  “It doesn’t mean everybody loves us.  But if you look at the flow of content during the 360 generation and some of the indie hits that debuted on console on 360, people were clearly investing in putting their games on our platform.” “We want to have a platform that all of the great game developers can target.  We have to be able to support that,” Spencer says.  And those creators seem to be responding.  The ID@Xbox program has already proven popular.  “In the ...

After various reports, Microsoft has today confirmed that self publishing is coming to Xbox One. Apart from self publishing, each Xbox One can become a debug console allowing every one to be a Xbox One game developer with ease. Microsoft has so far been quiet about the role of indie game developers in Xbox One. There were reports that Microsoft might announce that there will be a self-publishing option for independent developers as opposed to the current closed system. Speaking to OXM UK, Lionhead Studios creative director Gary Carr told that Microsoft will soon reveal more about its indie games/developers strategy around Xbox One. He told that we will hear more “very soon” from Phil Harrison, former Sony Worldwide Studios president, who’s now in charge of Microsoft’s European developer relations. “I certainly know that Microsoft want to talk at future press events about their relationships with indies.
