Former Microsoft employee Alex Kibkalo has pleaded guilty to stealing the Redmond software giant’s trade secrets back in April. He was also the person who leaked “Activation Server Software Development Kit,” a propriety system that is used by Microsoft and its OEM partners to prevent the unauthorized copying of Microsoft programs to French blogger Canouna. Kibkalo and federal prosecutors reached an agreement in which prosecutors were recommending a 3-month prison sentence for Kibkalo, as well as a payment of $22,500 in restitution to Microsoft. Microsoft recently confirmed the availability of new Windows 8.1 with Bing SKU for OEMs. At BUILD conference, Microsoft announced that Windows will be available for 0 dollars to their hardware partners for Windows Phones and tablets smaller than 9-inches in screen size. This free Windows for OEMs will be the Windows 8.1 with Bing SKU. Also with the Windows 8.1 Update, Microsoft is enabling the hardware partners to build lower cost devices with only 1GB of memory and 16GB of storage that provide customers with the fast and fluid experience they expect from a Windows device. Court documents revealed that Microsoft snooped into Outlook/Hotmail accounts of the blogger to crack down this case. Some news sites accused Microsoft for snooping customer’s (in this case blogger’s) email account. Electronic Frontier Foundation today raised the same issue criticizing Microsoft for searching blogger’s Outlook/Hotmail contents without court warrant. To the contrary, if Microsoft’s independent legal team concluded that there was probable cause, it could have passed the tipster’s information to the FBI to obtain a warrant and conduct the search under the auspices of the criminal justice system. winfuture.de has posted a number of screenshots and video of Windows 8. They claim that its Windows 8 Build 7955. The above video shows Windows 8 logon screen designed on Metro. Also the screenshots posted by them shows the ribbon interface, updated new taskbar, smartscreen filter, metro design theme on window’s etc.  Here is one of them.
