Microsoft Office team hinted about new services coming to Office suite this year. Today, one such service/tool was revealed on the web. The new tool/service is called Office Mix. Office Mix includes a add-in for Office 2013 that allows you to record audio, video, and handwriting, and insert interactive elements like quizzes, and even you can do screen capture. Once everything is done, you can upload it to Mix Online service and anyone can access the same via any web browser through a simple link. If you remember it correctly, this is the project which got leaked 2 years back in the name of Moorea. What does Mix do? The short answer? It makes your life a lot easier. At their annual company meeting, Microsoft’s Kirk Koenigsbauer demonstrated an upcoming Windows 8 app from the Office team codenamed ‘Office Reader’. Office Reader is supposed to be a cross format tool for consuming different types of content. He also demoed no.of updates coming to Office in the upcoming “Gemini” wave. Recently, Microsoft described the below in their re-org memo. “We will ensure that the tools handle multimedia (photos, videos, text, charts and slides) in an integrated way and natively online. These documents/websites will be easily sharable and easily included in meetings. They will offer complex options such as imbedded logic and yet be easy to author, search and view. These documents will be readable from a browser, but the experience will be infinitely better if read, annotated or presented with our tools.” I guess the Office Reader exactly does the same. We have all seen screen shots and today video of Moorea, Microsoft’s new Office 15 app, but it has never really been clear what the software is for, and of course what its good for, except to demo the Metro UI. Now for the first with this vide uploaded by robyroby27 from Winbeta.it on YouTube it is clear the software is pretty good at creating a visually engaging and stunning presentation suitable for the web, at least for pictures.
