Acer released the first 8-inch Windows 8 device Iconia W3 few months back and device is now selling for just under $300. Even though the device provides great value for the money, it got poor reviews due to two main things. First, the poor LCD display. Second, the last generation Atom processor. Acer has listened to both of these complaints and an updated product named Iconia W4 is coming next month. The Iconia W4 will have same design as W3, but will come with 1.33GHz Atom Z3740 processor and a much improved “wide view angle” display. Surface Mini Concept Render Just few hours ago, we reported some new information regarding the upcoming Surface ‘mini’ tablet from Microsoft. There is a new information from ZDNet that Surface Mini won’t be released until Sprint 2014. According to Mary Jo Foley, the Surface Mini is coming, but not in calendar 2013 and she expects Surface Mini in early 2014. She also reported that the Surface Mini is going to come preloaded with a Windows 8.1 update, that is codenamed “Spring 2014 GDR.” The Spring 2014 GDR for Windows 8.1 will align with Windows Phone “Blue,” which may or may not be called Windows Phone 8.1 when it ships, according to my sources. Toshiba today announced no.of Windows 8 based devices. Along with their first 8-inch device Encore and low cost touch laptop Satellite NB15t, they announced a new detachable laptop called SATELLITE CLICK. Click comes with a 13.3-inch display which can be detached from the keyboard base to use it as a tablet. It will be powered by AMD A4 Accelerated Processing Unit with AMD Radeon 8000 graphics performance. AMD is claiming that these chips offer performance equivalent to that of Intel Core i3 processors. It also comes with 500GB hard drive and batteries on both tablet and keyboard dock. Battery life is expected to be around 3-4 hours for tablet only mode and 5-6 hours when attached with dock.
