As we get closer to the release of Windows 8.1 Update 2 new rumors have come to light. Microsoft enthusiast FaiKee has revealed new information based on his discussions with a Chinese source.  It appears Microsoft may be working on an Update 3 for Windows 8.1 (may be called Windows 8.2) to succeed Windows 8.1 Update 2. Small info update, take it as a rumor – it’s still quite far away, and plans could change anyway : Windows Codename Blue -> Windows 8.1 Updates 1/2/3, Update3 expected 2015 Spring. Last month, a new rumor emerged online that revealed some information about the Microsoft’s future product roadmap. The information was believed to be from a Microsoft employee who worked on these projects. It revealed that the next major version of Windows called Windows 9 and Windows Phone 9 will be released in preview during Q2-Q3 time frame in 2015. Windows 9 is likely to contain a revamped Metro interface. The new start menu and windowed Metro apps will also be included in this update. Last June, we reported about a specs of a device from Microsoft called Xbox Surface.  We thought it was just a fan made concept, but it seems that it may get real soon. According to a report from The Verge, Microsoft is working on  a 7-inch version of Xbox Surface tablet which will be focused on gaming. While the specs of the device was not yet finalized,  it will  likely include a custom ARM processor and high-bandwidth RAM suitable for high performance gaming. It was also reported that Xbox Surface will run on custom Windows kernel and will have some tablet focused apps.
