Yesterday, Sharp announced that they have developed the Free-Form Display, a revolutionary advance over the conventional display shape concept that enables the creation of new display designs to match a variety of applications. Even though Sharp was focusing on these kind of displays in car dash boards, this advanced display technologies can be used in wearable devices with elliptical displays too. The good news is that Sharp is planning to enter mass-production stage for the Free-Form Display at the earliest possible date. Sharp has announced a new 15.6-inch Windows 8.1 tablet called RW-16G1. It is powered by Intel Core i5-4200U CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD. The main highlight of the machine is the 3200X1800 QHD+ IGZO display. As you expect, it is also a touchscreen with stylus support. Its a 2.7-pound, 0.5-inch thick tablet and it offers a battery life of upto 9 hours. It also includes a Mini DisplayPort, 3 USB 3.0 ports and a SD card slot. Japanese OEM Sharp has joined the growing list of Windows tablet OEMs. At CEATEC show in Japan, Sharp announced its new Windows 8 tablet named the Mebius Pad, featuring a 10.1-inch IGZO panel with 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. It will run on Intel quad-core Atom processor and will come with Windows 8.1 and Office pre-installed. Also the device is water and dust-proof and comes with LTE support in Japan.
