Microsoft today announced that they are partnering with Akamai Technologies, a leading provider of cloud services for delivering, optimizing and securing online content and business applications to form a new startup accelerator to accelerate business and create breakthroughs in cybersecurity. This collaborationstrengthens Microsoft’s already solid partnership announced a leading VC, JVP. Microsoft and 1776 last year announced a partnership agreement that will bring Microsoft’s industry, business, and technical resources to the world’s most promising startups in the heart of Washington, DC. Today, they announced the opening of Microsoft Innovation Lounge at 1776 in Washington. Judson Althoff, president of Microsoft North America, and Donna Harris, co-founder of 1776 helped in creating this new project.
