The Surface team has been busy over the last three months in establishing the right infrastructure for getting their tablets to more business customers in more places.  Given the increase in demand for Surface tablets, starting October 1st 2013, Surface will be in seven new markets – Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Pre-orders of the Surface 2 & Surface Pro started last week after the products were unveiled a press event in New York City.  If you pre-ordered online you had to at least put at least $50 down to reserve the device.  However if you are cash strapped at the moment it may be a good idea to visit a Microsoft Store in person.  Currently you can reserve the Surface 2 or Surface Pro with your choice of accessories for $0 down. The new Surface 2 is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor, with an improved battery life to up to 10 hours of video playback. At a press event today, Microsoft announced their next generation Surface RT device, Surface 2. The new Surface 2 now sports the same 10.6-inch display but with full HD resolution. Microsoft will introduce a new cover for their Surface tablets that will include a built-in battery.  The price of the cover is unknown and availability is currently unclear and may be after the launch of the Surface 2.  The add-on will be known as the “Power Cover,” and will be compatible with the first generation Surface Pro.  The power cover in combination with the Surface 2 sporting a Haswell chip could provide all day battery life. Neowin has published a report on the supposed Surface 2 specs. As expected, Surface Pro 2 will be powered by Intel Haswell based CPU which will double its current battery life from 3-4 hours to 6-7 hours. While the look and feel of the device will remain the same, it seems Microsoft has refined the kickstand to some extent. Leaked Specs: Haswell-based Core i5 Will help increase battery life significantly RAM doubled from 4GB to 8GB.
