Microsoft today sent out an updated statement to the media regarding the Surface RT 8.1 update issue. Microsoft pulled the Windows RT 8.1 update from Windows Store after few users raised concerns about their device getting bricked after the update. Microsoft then acknowledged the update situation and confirmed that they are working on a fix for the issue. Microsoft’s current CEO Steve Ballmer got only 79% of his total eligible bonus set for him by the board due to the slow growth in Windows 8 and Surface RT write off. The information was revealed in the proxy statement filed by Microsoft yesterday. The fiscal 2013 proxy statement gave the following reason on Ballmer’s bonus: “The company faced challenges due to weakness in the consumer PC market. Surface chief Panos Panay and Windows hardware scientist Stevie Bathiche yesterday previewed the upcoming Surface devices at Microsoft Store in Seattle’s University Village. Both of them together spent almost more than an hour to preview these devices. At a press event today, Microsoft announced their next generation Surface RT device, Surface 2. The new Surface 2 now sports the same 10.6-inch display but with full HD resolution.
