Microsoft started to sell their first Windows hardware Surface RT back in October last year. Initially the device was available only in Microsoft retail locations in US and then later expanded its availability to other retail stores and countries. We already saw reports that Microsoft Surface RT attracted a long line in Beijing, China back in October when it was first launched. It seems that the demand didn’t last for so many days, according to IDC, Microsoft Surface RT shipments has been low with only 30,000 units shipped during the fourth quarter. So, Surface accounted for only 1% of tablet market in China. IDC also reported that Microsoft was concerned less with boosting shipments, and instead used the device to demonstrate to PC vendors “how great” a Windows tablet could be, Chang said. Despite severe stock shortages and a high price the Microsoft Surface pro has still managed to make it onto Best Buy’s Bet Seller list, currently sitting in 4th spot behind much, much cheaper Amazon Kindle and Samsung Galaxy Tab. The Windows 8 tablet has been seeing severe supply shortages, but Microsoft has promised to restock this weekend, and is currently taking pre-orders for delivery later in the month.
