Sony, one of the popular Windows OEM known for its high-end machines today announced its sale of VAIO PC business to Japan Industrial Partners. Reuters recently reported that Sony is planning to sell its Vaio personal computer division in an effort to streamline its business. Vaio PC division is losing money already and Sony is looking to stop it by selling it to possible parties. Sony is already in dicussion with investment fund Japan Industrial Partners to sell its Vaio unit. A new company would be set up by Japan Industrial Partners to take over the Vaio brand’s operations in Japan, according to the plan under consideration, the source said. Financial details and stakeholdings in the new entity were still being discussed. Apart from Japan, Sony is also planning to stop its operations from overseas PC markets. At CES, Sony has announced yet another convertible in the Vaio Flip series. Vaio flip series is now available in 13-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch models. The new Vaio Flip 11 is a 11-inch convertible which will have the same innovative hinge design that will allow your device to convert from traditional laptop to tablet. It also has N-trig digitizer allowing for pressure-sensitive pen input. It weighs 2.82 pounds. Sony has announced two new laptops, the VAIO Pro and VAIO Duo.  Both include Intel’s fourth generation Haswell processor inside (up to Core i7), Triluminous color rendering and X-Reality display engine technologies, Rapid Wake feature to bring the systems back up to speed quickly after sleeping, and USB ports can charge a device when the notebooks are in sleep mode or even powered down. There AC adapter has a USB charging port, too.  These notebooks will connect to any NFC enabled device by simply tapping it to the VAIO to share data and connecting via Bluetooth.
