Voting for the 2014 Xbox 360 Game Awards is now open, fans can vote for their favorite games until June 3 in nine categories, including your favorite hero, villain and the game that keeps you up all night. Fans can vote for their favorites across nine categories right on their Xbox console. Xbox has handed out awards for arcade games before, but this is the first time Xbox has rolled out the ceremony across all Xbox 360 games. Geekwire reports that Democracy Live is testing a Microsoft Surface as a ballot machine in Virginia this week. The device would only be used in one voting station, where it will record votes using a browser-based voting system backed by Microsoft Windows Azure. The web app lets the voter use the Surface to access, mark, and print a ballot for tabulation by a separate machine. The Windows device allows the use of peripherals such as sip-and-puff input devices for people with disabilities and the use of the device’s built-in screen reader. The precinct involved is in Charlottesville, Va, and the machine will be used for balloting in both the national and state elections. Democracy Live CEO Bryan Finney says the company plans to work with Microsoft on a broader rollout of Surfaces following the upcoming release of Surface Pro devices, which will run legacy Windows applications.
