We already know that Ascension, Coagulation, Zanzibar and Sanctuary maps of Halo 2 will be re-imagined  and will be part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Microsoft yesterday revealed that Lockout is the fifth map that will be part of the collection. Set in an old Forerunner research laboratory in the frigid mountains of Delta Halo, Lockout features fast-paced, close quarters combat with its narrow corridors and vertical level design. With three levels to navigate, adept players can deftly traverse around the map by mastering specific jumping points, enabling them to secure power weapons faster and set up ambushes for unsuspecting opponents. The re-imagined version of Lockout also includes a few new features that will surprise even the most hardened Halo 2 veterans. “Lockout was hands-down the most popular small arena-style map in Halo 2,” said Max Hoberman, president of Certain Affinity and one of the original lead designers of Halo 2. ...

The game includes smartly designed, procedurally generated content from a complex array of systems. You can also throw bait to lure animals where you want them, or merely watch them interact with one another: Eagles pluck goats from the mountaintops, jungle cats stalk various prey, and the like. And though it may seem like a small addition, the new ability to kick objects (rocks, barrels, people) and watch them tumble down hills and over cliffs makes for some genuinely exciting, reactive moments. Dead Island 2 is an upcoming action role-playing, survival zombie game for Xbox One from German developer Yager Development and published by Deep Silver. The developers have given a brief demo of this game to folks at Microsoft and they shared the experience at Xbox Wire. Our time with Dead Island 2 barely scratched the surface of the potential festering beneath its rotting flesh. On top of southern California, the massive open-world contains a huge NorCal region, as well as a third monster-populated mystery area. And while our time beating back the hordes beneath the iconic Hollywood sign was shared by a trio of co-op buddies, the final game will support a total of eight zombie-poppin’ pals. It’s also important to note that our defensive mission was not specific to (or segregated into) a cooperative mode, but instead displayed the same story objectives that a solo apocalypse survivor would encounter. We all know that Microsoft is working on a cloud based gaming service. Last year, they even demoed it during company meeting with a Lumia 520 Windows Phone device running Halo game from the cloud. Recently, Microsoft Research revealed their project DeLorean, which uses speculation to enable low-latency continuous interaction for cloud gaming. Gaming is very popular. Cloud gaming – where remote servers perform game execution and rendering on behalf of thin clients that simply send input and display output frames – promises any device the ability to play any game any time. Unfortunately, the reality is that wide-area network latencies are often prohibitive; cellular, Wi-Fi and even wired residential end host round trip times (RTTs) can exceed 100ms, a threshold above which many gamers tend to deem responsiveness unacceptable. In this paper, we present DeLorean, a speculative execution system for mobile cloud gaming that is able to mask up ...
