We heard about Microsoft’s IllumiRoom project back at CES and since then there were reports that Microsoft is planning to release it as a consumer device as part of Xbox offering in 2014. Speaking to Ausgamer, Albert Penello, head of product planning for Xbox One revealed that IllumiRoom is not coming anytime soon. “I wouldn’t expect you’ll see that,” Penello said. “It’s very, very cool tech but it’s, like, for a consumer, it requires projectors and things. Microsoft announced the Independent Developers @ Xbox Program which allows independent developers to publish games for Xbox One. First, you have to apply for the developer program, once the application is approved, Microsoft will offer developers free development kits and access to its Xbox One toolset which includes Kinect, Cloud, etc. There is no developer application fees as well. Yesterday, Time Warner Cable released their new Xbox app that will allow you to watch over 300 live channels including ABC, FOX and Comedy Central. If you were concerned about this app that it will soon make you cross the data cap, you can forget that thought. With an update rolling out to the Xbox 360, Microsoft will finally transition from MS points to local currently.  Microsoft has posted a FAQ explaining the transition in further detail: FAQ Your current Microsoft Points can be converted to an equivalent dollar value (valid until June 1, 2015). Transactions at this time are not being taxed, but in a future update Microsoft will start charging for local sales tax. However, the company will charge local sales tax on transactions in the future.
