In Activision’s recent earnings call  CEO Bobby Kotick let slip an interesting titbit regarding next generation consoles in 2013. “We can’t really talk too much about next generation console plans, but I think it’s safe to say you have a Wii U coming out and there will be another new console coming and we expect that they’ll be very successful,” Kotick said. The Wii U will be coming out in 2012, and is at present not expected to set the world on fire, due disappointing performance and limited features, which only come close to current gen consoles released more than 7 years ago. More than two years ago Microsoft started allowing users to expand their device storage using a USB Flash drive. This was limited to 16 GB per drive however, irrespective of the size of the drive. Now in the latest Fall Dashboard update Microsoft has quietly enabled support for up to 32 GB of flash drive storage, with Microsoft saying: "Yes. The more our customers use their profile and download digital content, the larger the file size necessary to store that content and move it between consoles gets. Therefore we increased the size of the memory to enable our customers to take more of their Xbox profile with them on the go." Video game analyst site VGChartz have estimated that 3.1 million copies of Microsoft’s new edition of Halo have been sold in the first 24 hours, beating all previous versions. It is estimate than more than 4 million copies will be sold in the first week. The number is 15% up on Halo 3 and Halo 3:Reach, with 1.9 million copies believed to have been sold in the US alone. The latest Xbox 360 Dashboard update, which has been in beta for some time, is now rolling out to console owners. The star feature of the update is the arrival of IE9 on Xbox 360.  This enables users to browse the web from the couch, controlling the experience using Xbox Smart Glass from their favourite smartphone or tablet.  This app is expected to hit the market on the 26th, with the release of Windows 8 also. Microsoft invited the Verge to see a demo of the Xbox Smartglass functionality built into Dance Central 3 for the Xbox 360. Microsoft is scrambling to remove in-game Halo 4 footage from YouTube after the two discs of the game leaked recently. The game is only hitting the market on the 6th November, but footage of the game is is showing up on the internet faster than Microsoft can ask for it to be removed.
