Their announcement, Hola fellow survivors, I wanted to let you know we’ve signed a multi-year, multi-title agreement to extend our development relationship with Microsoft Studios. We’ll be able to share details later this year, but as with State of Decay, we think it’s best if we just keep our heads down and build some prototypes before we talk too much. For now, suffice it to say there are big things going on with State of Decay. If this were a press release, we’d have a carefully vetted quote from Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Studios, ...

Xbox chief product officer Marc Whitten spoke with Engadget at CES on Xbox One sales, updates on game streaming functionality and more. First of all, Microsoft is happy about the reception of Xbox One among consumers and working to bring it to more markets. Marc also acknowledged that consumers are finding it difficult to fully explore the social side of the gaming in Xbox One than that of Xbox 360. Microsoft is already working to fix that experience and expect an update soon. “The feedback we’ve gotten is pretty valid; some of the social stuff is hidden or harder to use than it was on the Xbox 360. So you’re gonna see us come out with an update where, well, we’re going to fix those things. As a person who’s been pretty involved in building Xbox Live for the last decade, I take it pretty seriously when people say it’s ...

China has ended its 13 year old ban on game consoles today. This should be a great news for Microsoft and Sony as their popular consoles can be sold in the world’s largest country. The new announcement from the government now allows foreign companies engaged in the production and sale of gaming entertainment devices to do their gaming related business in China. But as you can expect, there will be some authority that will review the games in accordance with Chinese culture. I guess Microsoft expected this announcement as it started a new entertainment venture in China few months back. Shanghai media company BesTV New Media Co., Ltd, revealed that it has plans for an entertainment development venture with Microsoft. “SugarDVD CEO says Xbox One is a gateway for porn of the future” – This was the title I chose for this post and later changed it to avoid unnecessary brand damage for Xbox One. The title would have been weird, but that is exactly what SugarDVD CEO told in an interview. “Simply put, the Xbox One is a gateway for porn of the future,” SugarDVD CEO Jax Smith said, no doubt to the delight of Microsoft execs. “The PS4 is pretty, but Xbox One allows for more seamless integration and a more interactive experience.” Coming to our current title, according to their latest stats from SugarDVD, Three times as many people have signed up to use the SugarDVD app for PS4 than for Xbox One. It may be due to the fact that more PS4 units were sold than Xbox One worldwide. According to VGChartz.com, 3.4 million PS4s and ...

A few years back we saw the first Xbox 360 laptop mod and it’s not surprising that we’re seeing the same being done with the Xbox One.  Well known modder James “DarkUncle” Terry has created the first 22″ Xbox One laptop.  He posted a youtube video of the finished product but unfortunately did not go into detail of how he created it. Terry added an audio-out port to his Xbox One laptop, but has otherwise replicated all other functionality in the Xbox One.  The laptop will also have to remain plugged-in since it contains no batteries and makes use of the original XB1 power brick.  Terry has already sold his creation but there was no word on price or if more will be created in future for people to buy. Would you be interested in buying one? ...

Developing original series for Microsoft has taken a little longer than veteran TV executive Nancy Tellem had hoped, but her first slate of shows will launch on the Xbox videogame consoles early next year. “We’re hoping we will be able to put something up in the first quarter, at minimum second quarter,” said Tellem, president of entertainment and digital for Microsoft, at Variety’s Dealmakers Breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. “I’m incredibly ambitious and impatient,” said Tellem, who took the job to produce original content for the Xbox platform in 2012. Because of that, the time it’s taken to develop the first slate of series, including a high-profile project based around “Halo,” with Steven Spielberg producing, has been “slower,” but “reflecting on what we’ve done and what lies ahead, it’s been pretty good.” Tellem was attracted to joining Microsoft after spending years at CBS and the CW, ...
