LazyWormApps goes for a $1 million as Tweetro + is released for $9.99

9

We have covered the Tweetro saga before, which basically amounts to no third party twitter clients being able to have more than 100,000 users.

This forced the developer, LazyWormApps, to pull their well-regarded twitter client Tweetro from the Windows 8 Store, as a free, ad-supported client would just not be financially viable with such a small user base.

The app has now returned in a premium form for a rather pricy $9.99. Times this by a potential 100,000 users and the total ends up close to $1 million, which should keep LazyWormApps in pizza for some time.

Due to Twitter’s policies there will actually come a point when the Tweetro + app is sold out, and no new copies can be generate, so if you were looking to pick this app up it is a good idea to get it sooner rather than later.

The App Features:

  • Real-time streaming of tweets (timeline & search results)
  • In-app browser
  • Pin multiple tweet columns to main hub
  • Photo browser
  • Custom views (snapped, portrait, landscape)
  • Semantic zoom for bird’s eye view
  • Notifications
  • Multiple account support

Download it  from the Windows Phone Store here .

tweetro is good and i use it myself but it’s not worth $9.99, considering the alternatives i can’t see 100,000 people paying that much for a twitter client, at least not that soon

Tweetro has been the best client I’ve ever used and I consider it a premium app. However, $9.99 is a steep price. I don’t know that I’ll be purchasing.

So… if this goes to another 100,000 people, would they remove it from the marketplace again? I have the free one, but if I uninstall it or rebuild my computer, I can’t get it back, right? Twitter’s got to do something about this limit. What’s to stop a developer to keep coming out with the same app with a different name?

Its an aboslutely great app. Apart from the fact that it crashes at the lock screen.

The other part of the announcement by Twitter was that if apps get more than 100,000 users, the devs should talk to Twitter about getting more access. Or are LazyWormApps too lazy to try that?

They did try and got no joy from them.
