Just to show you why Windows 8 PC’s Are Much More Than Tablets. Managing iPad without a PC is a pipe dream for Apple! !

It’s like watching a father taking care of his little baby :)

    • Aaron

Your analogy is flawed, because a baby can grow up into a full person capable of doing everything the father can.  Let’s say its a father taking care of his pet fish.

    Apple
doesn’t want it’s tablet to be able to exist without a separate computer. They
don’t want to cannibalize their Mac sales. They want you to buy both.

      iOS5, look it up.

      • Anonymous

Exactly – iOS 5 takes the last 2 things you need a PC for on iOS devices – backups and firmware updates – and moves them to over-the-air, eliminating the PC completely.

Until you brick your device due to a ruddy wireless connection!

          • Anonymous

having used the wireless sync, backup and iCloud features for a while now, i can tell you there’s no problems.

but i never had wifi problems, only kids who don’t have iPads complain about that.

sure !! once iOS5 is released, every office in the world will stop using desktop computers, and of course every company will abandon dotNet projects foe objective-c developments, and sql server datbases will simply get migrated to a new iospowered dtabase engine, and also web servers will stop existing because we only need apps now…. ^_^ are you living in a dream wolrd or something ?

          • Anonymous

You need to work on your critical reading skills – no one said anything about the topics you ranted about, simply that some of the objections the OP had with iOS devices are eliminated in iOS 5.

      • http://www.auura.co.uk Endgadget

I’d imagine that ios5 probably won’t be available for the ipad 1 or a section of macs… that’s how apple works.

how hard is it to do a 6 second google search?

P.s. It’s not difficult at all as I simply don’t want to search for apple products.

          • Anonymous

yes, you want to trash them without knowing, which is why your opinion on such things, is totally worthless / biased

Now THAT is funny!  Any ipad owners like to comment?

    • Monkey D Black

I don’t think any will….. I was trying to figure out what was going on in the picture, then I realized it, hahaha. this goes to show that, windows slates are PCs not tablets or Pads. all these bloggers need to get that through their heads.

    • Anonymous

I own an iPad and I’ll reply- in iOS5, I won’t need my PC. I frequently VNC into SEVERAL machines from my iPad, and get this- using my iPad’s excellent screen and good VNC software (iTeleport), I find that method of touch based input to Win7, Win2k8R2, etc to be much better than the native touch controls within Windows. Fancy that!
Also, this Windows 8 tablet “experience” isn’t shipping until TWO THOUSAND THIRTEEN. Think about that for a moment. Think of all that lost time, all the lost opportunity in the market, all the days and ways in which Apple can improve iOS and the iPad and further eat everyone’s lunch. AAPL is 392+ atm. Glad I got in at 160 :)

      • Monkey D Black

ha, one actually did. but……2013? where did you get that sort of info from? is that the year you’ll like it to be shipped? but in case you didn’t know, 2013 isn’t the end of the world. so apple and google can all they want till then, but think about this for a little, it’s not a race. fancy that!

So, you are saying… In iOS5, I won’t need my PC, because I can remote into my PC’s.

How you can say that without seeing the flaw in your plan is beyond me.  Thanks for proving the points above, though.

Plus, your “TWO THOUSAND THIRTEEN” date (non-drama-queens say 2013, btw) is one you made up, and contrary to everything that has been in the press.

Way to destroy all credibility in anything you say, in only two statements.

        • Anonymous

i think the vnc and ios5 comments weren’t connected. She means iOS 5 functions quite happily PC less, for everything (as it has before)

as for destroying credibility by trying to emphasize something, i think your reaction is far more telling of a bias then her making a point of it, because face it or not, this will never go up against an iPad 2. It will be lucky if it goes up against the 3.

      • http://www.auura.co.uk Endgadget

Tell me something… How long have you been able to do these things on standard windows laptops?  Two years? Three? 15?  Think about it

        • Anonymous

laptops aren’t tablets. the touch interface changes things. MS did do tablets for 10 years before apple did, and because of the iPad, they revamped everything.

it’s a good thing. There’s no need to be a paranoid defensive retard about it.

          • http://www.auura.co.uk Endgadget

            “paranoid defensive retard ”

You really are showing youself to be a really low form of life with comments like that. Grow the *uck up and get a damn life. Even using the word retad show what type of person you are and I personally wouldn’t ever use such a retort.

            Grow up… please.

Laptops can be tablets: HP TC1100, ACer W500, MSI 110w, Toshiba M400.. the list goes on.

You must be living under a rock.  iOS5 will free the iPad from a PC starting in 2 weeks.

Besides iTunes Store, where you will be getting your music & videos?

      • Anonymous

Anywhere I please. I don’t steal. The only place I can’t get to music is the P2P theft sites. Lots of ignorance about the competition on this website. Its like you guys all live in opposite world. Many of you didn’t even know, including the author of this story, that the largest smartphone handset maker in the world was going wireless. Its not like it hasn’t been EVERYWHERE.

    • Aaron

So maybe you can finally use an iPad without a PC.  But I think the more important point here is that there is no compromise with Windows 8.  You can have an amazing tablet interface (the best I have seen) AND still have access to the functionality and features of a real computer.  People will always buy Apple iToys, but in my view, Windows 8 tablets are the only option here on out.

      • Anonymous

“Here on out..” meaning, not until 2013 at the earliest, right? And the iPad won’t gain any new features from now until then, yes? You’re fooling yourself. Meanwhile, Apple is FUCKING DOMINATING everyone.

You mean, “Apple is selling you cut down products that will eventually be obsolete via updates ios6″

          • Anonymous

vs MS is selling you something that won’t be released till the end of next year?

            are you on crack?

          • http://www.auura.co.uk Endgadget

No but judging from some of your replies you’re not a very nice person.  Please see above with your ‘retard’ reply.

            Disgusting behaviour.

Look at the history of ALL Apple products and you’ll notice that they do drop kit via updates.

P.s. I don’t ‘dislike’ the iPad BUT I do dislike the company due to their questinable conduct. Microsoft is no saint but when a company states things like, ‘You’re holding it wrong’ or ignores malware like they did in their recent scare..

        • http://www.facebook.com/thomas.bundgaard Thomas Bundgaard

Stop trolling please. Windows 8 is to be released in 2012.

      • Anonymous

No, I think the more important question is how have you guys avoided knowing this for so long?

      • http://about.me/raphaelcohen Raphael Cohen

        exactly.

ah… hopes, dreams, money flying out the window,… Apple really changes everything , again.

Windows8 to ipad: “here you go baby bird…yes one day you’ll grow up to be a real tablet”

  • AlexMan

I’m not sure how iOS5 bringing PC less activation 4 years on is much of an achievement.

Great Pic. I have been waiting for Windows8 8 since Windows Phone 7 came about.

iOS 5 says your full of shit.

have fun with x86 compatibility lol. (jay kay, i mean .net programs)

    • http://www.auura.co.uk Endgadget

Have fun with yellow screen corners, screen bleedm failing wi-fi connections, random shut offs due to overheating… I read the Apple support forums.

      • Anonymous

please. any support forums will be filled with people with problems, it’s the nature of the beast. Shall we take a look at HTC’s or any other OEM’s? It’s the same shit. If what you were saying had a grain of truth, why are apple on top for customer satisfaction, for the 20th time?

because their products are good, and they have excellent support.

Also, with iOS 5 basically finished, (beta 8 drops today) and win8 a year out, shouldn’t we be comparing it to iOS 6?

You know this will be competing *if lucky* with the iPad 3, if not 4. I suppose apple will just lay down?

Regardless, i have my win8 vm too, and i really love the UI. It will push apple harder, and google, and we’ll all have better cheaper phones for it.

        • http://www.auura.co.uk Endgadget

…I agree.  Trouble is.. Apple owners can and do pay more for products that are supposedly SUPERIOR so they should NOT experience these issues.

          Or so I’m told

          • Anonymous

from what i see, iPhones are $200. iPads are $499.

tell that to owners of the OG touchpad before the price drop. or Xoom owners.

          • http://www.auura.co.uk Endgadget

iPhone 4, with no contract, £450 here in the UK as I purchased one last month. iPad, very basic model, £410.

            HTC HT7 – £320.
Acer W500 – £425. With keyboard, USB ports, larger hard drive etc. Only negative is the battery life

At the end of the day Windows 8 will offer far more than ios5 will or ever can as you’re still stuck with a device crippled by the same company that sells the product: Apple.

yep, after a couple of months with an iPad, I confirm this picture intention : iPads are more toys and not intended to get things done , such as moving files around for exemle, or doing serious stuff. iOS users will just repeat that they don’t need it, but maybe one day they will grow up.
