Windows 8.1 Passes Windows Vista In Worldwide OS Market Share

According to the latest market share data from Net Applications, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 barely made any significant gain in January 2014. The market share increased by just 0.09% to reach 10.58% worldwide.

 More specifically, Windows 8 fell 0.26 percentage points (from 6.89 percent to 6.63 percent), while Windows 8.1 gained 0.35 percentage points (from 3.60 percent to 3.95 percent).

Also, Windows 7 continued to lose market share at very slow rate. Overall, Windows market share is up to 90.73 percent from 90.72 percent, OS X increased its market share to 7.68% and Linux captured 1.60% market share.

    Netmarketshare is good source for long time period or trends. It is not good MoM measuring tool. According same data Windows XP gains MoM 0,25 percenage points, nonsense.

    I personally don’t understand why so many Windows 8 users have not installed the free upgrade, this seems odd to me. :-
