Windows 8.1 Update 2 Coming As Part Of August Patch Tuesday Updates

Microsoft released Windows 8.1 Update few months back. Windows 8.1 Update included lots of improvements for keyboard and mouse users. It also enabled new low-end hardware to be built by OEMs on top of Windows. With the recent reports, we already know that Microsoft is working on the second update for Windows 8.1. So far, we referred it as ‘Windows 8.1 Update 2’. Today, Windows IT Pro reported few information on this update based on their sources.

Here is the summary of them,

  • Windows 8.1 Update 2 will be just called August update.
  • It will not be released separately, instead it will be released as part of the August Patch Tuesday update.
  • It will be a standalone patch. So, you need to have Update 1 installed to install this August update.
  • It will not be a mandatory update like Update 1. Users will continue to receive other updates even when they didn’t install this August update.

Microsoft is expected to reveal what this August update will include in a blog post early next week.

Give us back the aero, or at least title bar shading like in XP! Flat design sucks on a large monitor – I feel like I’m working in something designed by a moron writing his first PC application.

Reminds me of the “nouvelle cuisine” debacle of the 1980s – how they sold piddling little portions and charge a premium for it.

He who will produce less and call it more is a con man.
He who will accept less and call it more is a sucker.
