We have seen many reports in the past pointing towards AMD based CPU/GPU combination in Microsoft’s Xbox vNext. Today, Bloomberg confirmed via its sources that Xbox vNext is indeed powered by AMD chips. The new developer platform will be based on familiar x86 architecture powered by AMD system-on-a-chip that combines powerful “Jaguar” central processing units with graphics chips. This will enable game developers to easily create games across platforms with ease.
Microsoft is expected to detail Xbox developer platform in June at BUILD conference and to reveal Xbox vNext details in a separate event planned in May.
